Historical Military Flags: American Battle & War Flags
Historical Military Flags & Battle Flags
Flags serve an incredibly important purpose in the conflicts of the past. The national flag and the unit flag were both used to mark locations, and serve as rally points in the midst of the smoke and death of a battlefield.
At Gettysburg Flag Works, we're proud to preserve our nation's past by offering high quality historical military flags. Whether you're celebrating our nation's history by displaying these flags at your home or business, or you're looking for top of the line flags to use for historical re-enactments, our selection is second to none.

Civil War Flags
Between 1861 and 1865 the United States tore itself apart over the fate of slavery in its territory. Fought between the Northern States, known as the Union, and the Southern, or Confederate States of America, both sides adopted several flags to represent their cause.
Civil War Union Flags
The Civil War Union Flag is not all that different from the pre-Civil War era flag of the United States. Since the government did not recognize the Confederacy's legitimacy, no stars were removed from the flag at all. However, there were dozens of other flags used by the various regiments, brigades, forts and corp HQ's, as well as cavalry flags, which are available in our extensive Collection of Civil War Unions Flags.
Irish Brigade Battle Flags
Consisting mostly of Irish Americans and recent immigrants from Ireland, the Irish infantry brigade regiments served under the Union Army and took on some of the heaviest losses during the Civil War. Our Collection of Irish Brigade Battle Flags includes the 69th NY Infantry or "Fighting 69th" Irish Brigade Regiment Flag, the 1st Irish Brigade Regiment Flag, and a number of other Irish Battle Flags from the Civil War.
Civil War Confederate Flags
Three successive designs served as the official national flag for the Confederate States of America during its existence between 1861 and 1865. The first "Stars and Bars" Flag, the second "Stainless Banner" Flag, and the third "Blood-Stainer" Flag, as well as more than a hundred others are available in our Collection of Civil War Confederate Flags.
