The U.S. Space Command Flag

Originally established in 1985, the U.S. Space Command was reestablished in 2002 until being reactivated in August of 2019. Space Command carries out joint forces from all branches of the armed forces to integrate military space power into global operations. The department works to deter aggression and defend national interests. U.S. Space Command Flag Design

The United States Space Command emblem has specific meaning and symbolism, showcasing the purpose of the agency. The seal features a bald eagle holding a shield displaying thirteen red and white stripes, symbolizing the original thirteen states. In his right talon the eagle holds an olive branch, representing the worldwide goal of peaceful operations in space. In his left talon is a cluster of thirteen arrows with the silver delta as arrowheads, indicative of the strength and power necessary to protect citizens and allies. Below the eagle sits a blue globe with silver land masses, as if being viewed from space. To the left of the eagle lies a silver and white Polaris star, representing a constant presence and vigilance in space. Encompassing the globe are two white elliptical orbits representing the unity of U.S. Space Command with their partners and which intersect over the United States, where command lies. An arc of four silver stars above the eagle symbolizes the four-star combatant commander of the U.S. Space Command. The seal sits on a black background, representing the endlessness of space.
