President’s Day is a Designated Flag Flying Holiday

President’s Day is celebrated on the third Monday of February each year, and is a designated flag flying holiday. Popularly seen as a day to recognize the lives and achievements of all U.S. presidents, the holiday was originally established in 1885 in recognition of President George Washington and later President Abraham Lincoln, both of whom were born in February.

Celebrate President’s Day with American Flags & Patriotic Gifts

Many homes and businesses choose to fly our Battle-Tough® American Flag on President’s Day, but for those who wish to specifically honor Washington and Lincoln, our Washington’s Cruisers Flag and Lincoln Election Flag make great additions.

The Washington’s Cruisers Flag was one of the pine tree flags of the American Revolution, flown by a squadron of six warship cruisers commissioned under General George Washington in 1775, while the Lincoln Election Flag was used to advertise Lincoln’s candidacy during the 1860 presidential campaign.

If you’re looking for a fun way to celebrate President’s Day, our Honest Abe T-Shirts are sure to add a little humor to your holiday celebrations. These patriotic tees feature Lincoln atop a T-Rex and are available with or without a military pint glass. Perfect for raising a toast on President’s Day or as a gift for history buffs and military personnel all year long.

President’s Day Parade Decorations

Gettysburg Flag Works® also offers lapel pins, stick flags and parade sashes for President’s Day parades, as well as patriotic street décor, including buntings, pleated fans and light pole flags.
