About the Choctaw Brigade

Also referred to as the Second Indian Cavalry Brigade, these soldiers sided with the Confederacy during the American Civil War. Participating in the Camden campaign throughout Arkansas, the brigade received commendation for its involvement at the battle at Poison Spring in April 1864. During a furlough to Indian Territory, the Choctaw troops revitalized their commitment to the Confederacy and enlisted for the duration of the war. As the war continued, the brigade was mobilized less frequently as they were poorly armed and had few working guns. In May 1865, the brigade was called into camp for what would be the last time. They were utilized for scouting purposes and bringing in cattle for troop encampments. Shortly after, the brigade was dissolved after the Choctaw principal chief signed a temporary treaty with U.S. officials.

• 3x5’ - The most common flag size. Used on 6' house-mounted poles or in-ground poles up to 20' tall
• 4x6’ - Traditionally used on 25' tall in-ground flagpoles
• 5x8’ - Made for use on 30' tall in-ground flag poles
• 6x10’ - Made for use on 35' - 40' tall in-ground flagpoles
• Header and Grommet style - This is the most popular way to attach a flag and is used on house mounted poles and in-ground flag poles. Generally made of brass and connected via snap clip or plastic grommet rings like our rotating spinning pole.
