Adjustable Flag Bracket — 5-Position Cast Aluminum (1" Pole)
Most house-mount flag brackets give you one fixed angle and that's it. This one doesn't. Our 5-position adjustable bracket lets you choose the angle that actually works for your house — whether you want the flag to hang nearly straight down for a clean vertical look, fly out at a traditional 45°, or sit closer to horizontal to clear low gutters, shrubs, or porch overhangs.
It's machined from thick cast aluminum, comes in white or silver (natural aluminum), and uses a thumb-style set screw to lock the pole at your chosen angle. Made in the USA.
Before You Buy: Pole Size Compatibility
This bracket fits 1" diameter flagpoles only. It will not accommodate 3/4" or 1.25" poles. If you're not certain what diameter pole you have — or you're replacing a bracket on an existing pole — measure the pole at the base before ordering. Returns due to size mismatch are the most common issue we see with flag brackets. If you need a different size, browse our full selection of residential flag brackets.

Why an Adjustable Bracket?
A standard 2-position bracket fixes your flag at roughly 45°. That's the right angle for most homes, but not all of them. Here's when the 5-position version earns its place:
Clearing obstacles
If a 45° angle would put your flag in contact with shrubs, gutters, eaves, or a porch roof, a steeper angle keeps the fabric flying free and prevents premature wear from rubbing.
Visibility from the street
On homes set back from the road or with deep porches, angling the flag closer to horizontal projects it outward and makes it more visible to passersby.
Aesthetic preference
Some homeowners simply prefer a more vertical drape, especially on tall siding or near the peak of a gable. The 5-position adjustment lets you dial in the look you want.
If you don't need the angle flexibility, our standard 2-position aluminum bracket costs less and works perfectly well for most installations.
What Pairs Well
Aluminum Spinning Pole
Our 1" diameter aluminum spinning pole is the natural pairing for this bracket. The spinning collar prevents the flag from wrapping around the pole in wind, and the 1" diameter is a direct fit.
Installation Notes
The bracket has four mounting holes and installs flat against any reasonably solid surface — wood siding, fascia board, trim board, brick, or stucco. Mounting screws are not included because the right fastener depends entirely on what you're mounting to:
- Wood siding, fascia, or trim board: #10 or #12 wood screws, 1.5"–2" long, are typical. Pre-drill pilot holes to avoid splitting trim.
- Vinyl siding: You'll need to use a vinyl siding mounting block or hit a stud behind the siding — vinyl alone won't hold a flag bracket reliably in wind.
- Brick or stucco: Use masonry anchors and a hammer drill. Tapcons or sleeve anchors both work well.
- Stud finder recommended — you want at least two of the four screws hitting solid framing.
A note on the set screw: The thumb screw locks the pole at your chosen angle. If you know you'll be keeping the flag at one specific angle long-term, a small dab of blue Loctite on the set screw threads will keep it from working loose over time. If you plan on adjusting the angle occasionally — say, raising it to clear deep snow in winter — skip the Loctite so you can still turn the screw by hand.
Will This Work With My Existing Pole?
The most important compatibility factor is pole diameter. This bracket is sized for 1" poles only. If your existing pole is wood, measure carefully — many older wood poles are tapered, and the diameter at the bottom (where it sits in the bracket) is what matters. If the pole has any kind of decorative collar, ferrule, or thicker section near the base, that may also interfere with seating in the bracket.
If you're not sure, give us a call before ordering — we'd rather help you get the right part the first time than process a return.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will this bracket fit my 3/4" or 1.25" pole?
No. This bracket is sized specifically for 1" diameter poles. A 3/4" pole will be loose and unstable, and a 1.25" pole won't fit at all. Browse our residential flag brackets for other sizes.
What screws do I need to install it?
Mounting screws are not included. For wood siding, fascia, or trim, #10 or #12 wood screws 1.5"–2" long work well. For brick or stucco, use masonry anchors. For vinyl siding, you'll need either a siding mounting block or to hit framing behind the siding. We recommend a stud finder so at least two screws hit solid wood.
Can I leave the angle adjustable, or does it have to be locked?
You can do either. The thumb-style set screw lets you change the angle whenever you want. If you've found your preferred angle and want to lock it in permanently, a small dab of blue Loctite on the set screw threads will keep it from loosening over time. If you think you'll adjust it seasonally (for example, to clear deep snow), skip the Loctite.
Will this work on vinyl siding?
Not directly. Vinyl siding alone isn't strong enough to support a flag bracket in wind. You'll either need a vinyl siding mounting block (a flat plastic plate that distributes the load) or you'll need to drive your screws into the wall framing behind the siding using longer fasteners.
What's the difference between the white and silver finish?
The white finish is a painted coating designed to blend in with white trim, fascia, or siding. The silver finish is the natural cast aluminum with no paint — it has a matte, slightly textured industrial look rather than a polished chrome appearance. Both finishes are equally durable.
What size flag can I fly from this bracket?
Paired with a standard 5- or 6-foot 1" diameter pole, this bracket comfortably handles a 3' x 5' flag, which is the most common residential size. We don't recommend going larger than 3' x 5' on a residential wall-mount setup — bigger flags need a heavier-duty bracket and pole.
