Asia Flags

Asia is a continent of enormous size and diversity. Asia reaches the frozen tundra of Siberia to the scorching deserts of the Middle East, from the great steppe of Central Asia to the jungles of Southeast Asia. As one might expect, the countries of this massive continent are just as diverse as its landscape.

Asia is so massive that it is impossible to discuss the continent as a whole, the cultural similarities between Saudi Arabia and Japan are very slim for example. So, it is more useful to split up the continent into several regions that share a cultural history. Asia is usually divided into 5 regions: Southwest Asia (commonly known as the Middle East), South Asia (containing the countries of the Indian Sub-Continent), Central Asia (located on the vast steppe in the center of the continent), East Asia (containing China, North and South Korea, and Japan), and Southeast Asia (containing Vietnam and its surrounding nations).

The prime movers and shakers in Asia are the People's Republic of China and India, the two most populous nations on the planet.
