Historical Reproduction "Big Red" Citadel South Carolina Battle flag. This flag is thought to have been flown by Citadel cadets defending Charleston harbor during the siege of Charleston during the American Civil War. The distinctive South Carolina palmetto is present on this striking red background. However, unlike the blue background state flag of South Carolina, the palmetto has a distinctly historic look and the crescent moon is facing the opposite direction.
