"Kilroy Was Here" is the well known graffiti used during WWII by countless American GIs and British soldiers. The phrase and associated drawing were seen in the unlikeliest of places, be it the hull of a submarine or a remote farm stumbled upon in the front lines of the European theater. When a soldier saw the graffiti, he knew instantly he was not the first to have traversed this area. For more background information see this stub.
