San Francisco City Flag

The San Francisco city flag depicts a phoenix rising from flames above a banner with the spanish words "Oro en paz. Fierro en guerra" which means "Gold in Peace and Iron in War". At the bottom of the flag is the city name in blue text. The yellow border, now reproduced as a part of the flag was originally intended to be a gold fringe, but mistakenly became incorporated into the design.
