CSA command during the Civil War, named for Major General Dabney Maury. Maury, a graduate of West Point, had served the CSA during battles at Vicksubrg, Mississippi and during the defense of Mobile, Al. He was named head of the Department of the Gulf in the later years of war and was responsible for a territory that ranged west from the border of Georgia though the Gulf Coast into Louisiana. The distinctive design features stars for each of the CSA and a central Christian cross.
