Caught in the Crossfire: Why We Believe the American Flag Isn’t a Political Statement

In today’s climate, it can feel like everything is political.

From the brands we buy to the teams we cheer for, even our holiday décor seems to be filtered through a partisan lens. But as a company that proudly manufactures and supplies American flags — and flags of all kinds, from military to state to custom designs — we find ourselves in a unique (and often uncomfortable) position.

We’re not here to argue. We’re here to serve.

And sometimes… we get caught in the crossfire.

We Believe in Pride — All Kinds of It

At our core, we believe in the right to be able to express your pride. Pride in your country. Pride in your community. Pride in your school, your service, your history, your values, your story.

We’ve made it our mission to support all kinds of pride, and we do that by making and supplying high-quality flags — from Old Glory to your local fire department’s custom banner. Whether you’re honoring a veteran, celebrating a hometown, or simply flying your colors on the front porch, we’re here for it.

We don’t tell you what to be proud of. We just help you show it.

The Flag is Bigger than Politics

Our company doesn’t take political stances. That’s not our mission, and it’s not our place.

We believe the American flag represents something bigger than any party or platform. It’s not “left” or “right.” It’s not red or blue. It’s red, white, and blue — for everyone.

It flies over courthouses and classrooms. Over farms and factories. Over battlefields and ballfields. Over the homes of veterans, immigrants, teachers, firefighters, parents, dreamers.

It is a reminder — not of what divides us — but of what we share.

We’re the Messenger — Not the Megaphone

Part of our role in the flag community is to educate. That means sharing important information like:

  • When the U.S. Flag should be flown at half-staff

  • How to properly display the flag at night or in bad weather

  • The history and meaning behind different flags

  • Flag etiquette for schools, businesses, and military ceremonies

These aren’t political statements. They’re public service announcements and in many cases, they’re tradition and respect.

But sometimes,, they’re misinterpreted and we receive angry messages that we are taking sides, lecturing or making a statement.

We’re not. We’re just doing our job.   There are thousands of people who rely on us — veterans, teachers, first responders, historians, parents, students, and proud Americans of every background — to provide information about the flags they love and live by.

Honor. Sacrifice. Service. Memory.

Much of the work we do revolves around honoring those who have served and sacrificed. From supplying veteran grave markers to creating custom military flags, we’re privileged to help families, communities, and organizations pay tribute.

And while we can’t control the politics of the world, we can control the tone of our message:

  • Honor those who gave their lives.

  • Support those still serving.

  • Educate those who want to learn.

  • Respect those who fly the flag — in whatever way it’s meaningful to them.

That is the heart of our business.

A Symbol Worth Protecting — Together

We understand that emotions run high. We know that some people see the flag and think of pain, protest, or patriotism — or all three at once. But we believe that’s exactly why the flag matters.

It is a living symbol evolving with the nation it represents. And we believe that we all have a responsibility to treat it with dignity, even when we disagree about everything else.

In Closing

We’ll keep doing what we’ve always done:

  • Making high-quality American-made flags.

  • Sharing important flag etiquette and history.

  • Honoring service and sacrifice.

  • Providing information — even when it’s unpopular — with clarity and care.

And we’ll keep believing that the American flag is for all Americans.

Because if the flag only belongs to some of us…
…then it stops representing all of us.

And that’s not the America we believe in.

Thank you to the many who support us, ask questions with curiosity, and continue to fly the flag with pride, compassion, and hope.

We’re honored to help you do it.
