Fort Moultrie Liberty Flag

Classic Revolutionary War flag, designed in 1775 under the commission of Col. William Moultrie. This flag flew during the successful defense of Sullivan's Island under bombardment by the British fleet off the coast of Charleston, SC in 1776. The design was the inspiration for,and is recognizable in, the design of the flag of the state of South Carolina.
