Gettysburg Flag\u00ae Works Responds to Ad Rejections: The American Flag Is Not a Political Statement<\/strong><\/h3>\n

East Greenbush, NY \u2014 August 7th 2025<\/strong> \u2014 Gettysburg Flag Works, a long-standing American business dedicated to the manufacture and sale of high-quality American flags, is speaking out following recent ad rejections by Meta and Taboola. Both advertising platforms cited ad policy violations relating “social issues, elections, or political ads” <\/span>as the reason for denying ads that simply featured the American flag.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a company founded on honoring American values and history, we strongly disagree with the notion that the American flag is inherently political,\u201d said Maria Coffey, Co-Owner at Gettysburg Flag Works. \u201cThe flag represents unity, service, sacrifice, and freedom \u2014 ideals that transcend political affiliations.\u201d<\/p>\n

The rejected ads included images of traditional American flags without any political messaging or endorsements. Gettysburg Flag Works sees this classification as a troubling trend that risks further politicizing a unifying national symbol.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor nearly three decades, we\u2019ve proudly served veterans, municipalities, schools, and everyday citizens who fly the flag to express pride and patriotism \u2014 not partisanship,\u201d the company stated. \u201cTo suggest that the flag itself is controversial undermines its role as a symbol for\u00a0all<\/em>\u00a0Americans.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gettysburg Flag Works is calling on advertising platforms and digital gatekeepers to revisit and clarify their policies to ensure that national symbols \u2014 especially the American flag \u2014 are not mistakenly categorized as political or divisive.<\/p>\n
