Popular Flag Materials & Their Advantages

We’ll review three of the most popular materials used in our flags and the advantages of each so you can make a well informed decision when selecting your next flag!

Cotton

Cotton is a very authentic flag material. It’s great for indoor use and ideal for reenactors since it’s a traditional choice, but it’s not a great choice for everyday flying.

In general, cotton is among the less durable flag materials, so if you’re hoping to fly your flag daily and want it to last for years, cotton isn’t your best bet.

Polyester

If you like the look and feel of cotton but you want to be able to fly your flag on a daily basis,  heavy duty polyester is probably a good flag material choice for you. It’s more durable than cotton, which makes it great for flying in high winds and more able to stand up to bad weather.

Because of its durability, polyester is also a good choice for larger flags on taller flagpoles.

Nylon

Nylon flags are the superior choice for most people in most places. Flags made of this material are durable, plus they fly in the slightest of breezes and they dry quickly after wet weather.
