The U.S. Navy is a prime user of jacks, but they are also used by ships of the Coast Guard, Military Sealift Command, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and other governmental entities. "The jack is flown on the bow (front) of a ship and the ensign is flown on the stern (rear) of a ship when anchored or moored. Once underway, the ensign is flown from the main mast." |

String of Code Signal Flags
The system of international maritime signal flags are a way of sending messages to and from ships. The various flags represent alphabetic and numeric messages. Each flag has been made with quality nylon fabric. The colorful panels have been double stitched together. The flags are 6" wide by 10" or 15" height and are separated by 7" of cord with 36" ties at both ends. The total length is over 40'. These strings do not spell out a message but are great for parties or decoration.
