 The Ancestral Poland flag is used as the State Flag of diplomatic representation (abroad only) and as the ensign of merchant ships. Since 1990, it has been used as the flag of civil airfields and landing zones as well as the flag of harbors.Originating as a red pennant with a white eagle in medieval times, this flag has evolved, at first the order of the red and white stripes being confused, but being finally set in 1919 to the current order. The coat of arms is an eagle donning a crown, representing independence from any authority. |
