Examples of Applique (Hand Sewn)

Applique is a process where your details are sewn onto the background of your banner or flag giving is a quilted feel. It is one of the most luxurious ways to make a parade banner or presentation flag that is meant to represent your group in the highest quality and finest detail. We made this 3x8' marching banner for a high school in Wisconsin. It's got a 3 color background with white lettering and silver music. Notice that the sheet music extends above the pole and is sewn on metallic silver nylon. The notes are all applique in black. Click on the image for a larger view.

This banner was made for a fitness club in NYC. The lettering and the logo were sewn by hand on a nylon banner.

This is a 3x5' appliqued flag for the Albany Police Department. It is mostly used as a display in the office and for parades. This whole flag is double-sided in order to read correctly from both sides of the flag.

This flag is appliqued, with the exception of the lettering on the very bottom. We used 4-color process for the small characters to keep the cost down.

This is a banner made for our local Chamber of Commerce, and can be used as a wall or parade banner. It is fully appliqued in 4 different colors, and has a pole hem across the top for hanging.

This custom mourning drape was done for our local Albany Police Department. It has sewn stripes and a canvas header with brass grommets.

This flag is 3x5' with a 3" pole hem and fringe. The gold logo in the middle is one piece of nylon with the details sewn over it, similar to a quilt, in red heavy duty thread.
