How to care for your flag

Mounting your flag
On an in-ground pole	When mounting your flag to an in-ground pole, be sure that your halyard (rope) is in good condition and that there aren't any sharp edges on your clips to prematurely wear your flag.
On a house mount pole	Always mount your flag in a place where it does not touch anything as if flies (tree, post, fence, house, gutter, roof, bracket, rope etc.). If your flag hits anything while flying it will wear very fast.

Washing & Repairing your flag
Fringe	Fringe is not meant to get wet. If washed or rained on immediately lay your flag flat to dry. If left in contact with the flag, your fringe may run and cause staining.
Washing	Most outdoor flags will last longer if frequently washed with a mild detergent or dry cleaned. Dirt from roads, salt from the ocean and air pollutants can all shorten your flags life. These partials lodge themselves between the fibers and cause damage when the flag waves. You can't do anything to stop it, but by cleaning your flag, you can slow down the wear and keep it looking nicer, longer. Always lay flat or hang dry your wet American flag. It will keep colors from migrating.
Dry Cleaning	Many dry cleaners will clean a USA flag free of charge when you bring it in with your other items to clean!
Repair	All flags will last longer if frequently repaired. We recommend visually inspecting your flag often to catch rips in the fabric when they start. Most flags can be repaired several times before they become too short to be an official USA flag.
